LOCAL CHOREOGRAPHIC RESIDENCY CALL 2027

Nossetssik Dance Company is launching a call for projects to host companies or choreographers in residence at its studio in Montpellier, as part of its support for young contemporary creation.

Supporting Local Dance Creation in the Hérault

Nossetssik Dance Company is launching an open call for choreographers and dance companies based in the Hérault department, France, for a series of month-long choreographic residencies at our studio in Montpellier, from January to June 2027.

This initiative aims to support the local dance community by providing artists with dedicated time and space to develop their choreographic projects, experiment with new ideas, and advance their artistic research.

Through this program, Nossetssik Dance Company seeks to encourage artistic exchange, support the development of emerging and independent artists, and strengthen connections within the local dance community.

Selected artists will also have the opportunity to apply to present their work at U do U, our end-of-season event celebrating dance, movement, and artistic creation. Performance opportunities will be offered through a separate selection process.

AVAILABLE RESIDENCY PERIODS

Six residency periods are available between January and June 2027.

  • Residency 1: 4th to 31st of January 2027

  • Residency 2: 1st to 28th of February 2027

  • Residency 3: 1st to 28th March 2027

  • Residency 4: April 2027

  • Residency 5: May 2027

  • Residency 6: June 2027

Each residency lasts one month.

Applicants may indicate their preferred period or periods when submitting their application. The final allocation of residency periods will depend on the selection process and studio availability.

This call is open to choreographers and dance companies based in the Hérault department, working in contemporary dance and other choreographic practices.

Residency Terms​

 

  1. Studio Access: Residents will have access to the dance studio 7 days a week, from 09:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Artists are free to organize their own rehearsal schedule.

  2. Support: Our team will offer technical and organizational assistance for the public presentation and workshops. An external artistic eye will be available to provide feedback when needed.

  3. Studio Sharing: Occasional external bookings may take place during the residency. Residents are expected to accommodate these limited interruptions.

  4. Housing, Travel & Meals: These are not provided. Artists are responsible for their own arrangements.

Reciprocal Commitments

In exchange for the residency, selected artists are asked to:

 

  • Deliver one Sunday workshop per week (10:00 AM – 12:30 PM), open to the public.

  • Present a work-in-progress or performance on the last Saturday of the residency, followed by a talk.

  • Engage respectfully with our team and space throughout their stay.

 

 

These activities are part of the residency agreement and are not remunerated separately.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be reviewed based on:

 

  • Artistic clarity and coherence of the proposed project

  • Relevance of the residency to the artist’s current process

  • Professionalism and ability to work autonomously

  • Capacity to share and interact with the local community

 

 

We encourage both emerging and established choreographers to apply.
